Hand Applique and Quilt Tops of All Sizes and Shapes

I have been quilting for over 30 years. Once I started making quilts, I haven’t stopped!
I rarely use a pattern, there are patterns in my head that just have to come out and most of the time they come out beautifully! Unlike others I did not have a quilter before me, both my grandmothers were superior seamstress’ but I never saw them make a quilt. My paternal grandmother, Daisy, was a wonderful seamstress and she also could do upholstery work by just looking at a piece of furniture and figuring it out. She was also a great hunter, wood chopper and all around woods-woman. She grew up in the “Endless Mountains” of Pennsylvania and spent most of her life there. One of 9 children, they were all accomplished people who never saw a problem they couldn’t solve.
My maternal grandmother, Vera, was a cook most of her life. She raised 3 children by herself in the 1930’s, a feat not common in that time. She also grew up in the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania and spent most of her life there. She was quiet, unassuming and gentle. She could sew anything, and cook everything. I never heard her say an unkind word about anyone.
Both of these women had a huge impact on my life and what I became. As an only child, my younger years were spent mostly with older people. I spent hours watching them sew, cook, plow, harvest, and it had a definite impact on my youth and what I was to become.
My favorite kinds of sewing are: hand appliqué, english paper piecing and buying fabric. (It is a totally separate hobby, isn’t it?)
I also have a real love affair with Singer Featherweight sewing machines. I love to sew on them and do, almost exclusively. I have a large collection of them and occasionally will sell when I need to get rid of a few. They are such little warriors!
I hope you enjoy my store, I love sewing the treasures you’ll find there.
Sew new beginnings,
Sharon
